When we started this , our first challenge was trying to establish an outdoor space that would fit with the surrounding beauty of the natural environment. Our first steps included creating a native Texan, multi-tiered, low maintenance, sustainable garden. This included the more colorful fall perennials like asters and goldenrod that provide local pollinators with rich colors to be drawn to. A stone retaining wall constructed using locally-sourced limestone was added to give structure and elevate the beauty of the landscape. Not only does this feature help manage the small evolutions in grade around the property, but it also provides a natural place for family to gather together. One of the difficulties we encountered was the sloping terrain, which we mitigated with particular grading and drainage measures to avoid continued pooling and extended life of the landscape. Every little detail matters when it comes to quality, so we used the best soil we could find, and plumbed a drip irrigation system, so the plants will drink only essential water in optimal quantities. The final product is a verdant and colorful landscape that beckons for time spent curled up in the garden, and meandering paths of organic flagstone stone meandering through the space. The satisfied customer thanked her for making it all a painless process from the consultation to installation.
