We feel it speaks to our commitment to quality and responsible artistry in every aspect of landscaping and as a whole showcases our skill in most of New England and the Mid Atlantic States. We wanted the residence to be at one with the landscape. Our team engineered a three-level garden that steps down the slope, incorporating indigenous flora, including beach grass, bayberry, and rhododendron, to strengthen the surrounding habitat in the process of maintaining a low-upkeep site. Local granite boulders create both visual appeal, as well as functional retaining walls to prevent erosion, which we addressed with care. Along with the gardens, we also built a large bluestone patio made of reclaimed stone, creating a beautifully scaled outdoor room connecting the house and the stunning views of Menemsha Pond. The artisans were careful to ensure every stone was a perfect fit, producing a sturdy surface that weathers both nature and foot traffic whilst blending seamlessly with the surrounding cliffs of limestone and other natural stone. Ensuring the new plantings would have sufficient sunlight while maintaining the existing trees was one of our biggest challenges. So with a little pruning and a lot of planning we reached a compromise of an ecosystem that not only provides potential for growth but also maintains the feel of the site. The end product is a stunning landscape that embodies the peaceful and natural fit that the client pictured. Now, the Menemsha Hills Residence features colorful gardens and terraces as well as a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Our clients were elated with the result, compliments to the quality of work and the considered design resulting in a peaceful retreat for family and friends.
