Mission Hills Terraced Canyon Mooc Exterior Designs, Inc. is pleased to complete the Mission Hills Terraced Canyon that serves as an example of creative landscape design that integrates beauty with function. Located in the gorgeous Mission Hills San Diego area, this had the unique challenge of turning a steep hillside into a multi-tiered terraced garden that maximizes space and aesthetics. The was designed with a complex series of multi-level terraces created with local stone and durable, sustainable materials that not only made the design more visually appealing but also helped preserve the natural environment. Each terrace is planted with an assortment of native plants, succulents, and ornamental grasses, which were carefully selected for the design based on their adaptation to the San Diego climate, while promoting environment biodiversity. One of challenges we had to solve for was the nature of the steep slopes and also allowing for drainage in order to avoid erosion. Our team created an advanced drainage system which included boulders placed within the terraces for not only aesthetic value but also stabilization. Using permeable pavers for paths and terraces also allowed water to stay on the property while enabling the user to take a comfortable stroll through the garden. The final result is a tranquil oasis to be enjoyed by the clients, and exceeded their expectations. The tiered design allowed for variety in planting areas and gives the eye places to move from one surface level to the next. The clients are also able to entertain in seating areas surrounded by beautiful blooms and lush foliage that changes through the seasons.
