About This Project

Mooch Exterior Designs, Inc. has unveiled its 'French Courtyard and Frontyard' in San Diego, which combines elegance and functionality. Mooch currently serves the area from La Jolla to National City and was tasked with creating a beautiful outdoor space that defined the charm of a classic French courtyard while enhancing the curb appeal of the home. The included impressive features, such as cobblestone pathways designed to evoke memories of walking on European streets, and lush, fragrant plantings that invited the five senses. By only using the best and most stunning native to California plants, beautiful colors evolved through the seasons, while being environmentally sustainable. We even used a natural stone to build a central fountain that served as both a focus of attention and beautiful ambient sound; straight out of a classic French garden. One of the design challenges that faced the design team was the sloped topography of the yard that needed proper drainage and placement of plants. The team built retaining walls, made from reclaimed brick, that complemented the overall design as water flowed reliably and effectively. The reclaimed brick solved the drainage issue and added rustic charm to the landscape. In the end, what was created was an impressive balance of form and function. The courtyard was an elegant gathering place for family and friends, framed by powerful wrought iron gates, to allow for easy engagement. The lush, colorful foliage of the front yard welcomed visitors far and beyond the front door. The pleased client expressed deep satisfaction in the as this new outdoor space improved the entire feel of the home from peace to leisure. Mooch Exterior Designs, Inc. has, once again, raised the bar of quality and creativity in exterior living and continues to make every endeavor a new creation in exterior living.
