About This Project

The Torch Lake Timber Remodel project showcases a seamless blend of modern functionality and traditional architectural charm, elevating this Kewadin cottage into a spacious and inviting retreat. Our primary objective was to expand the living space while preserving the integrity of the original design. The home's living area was thoughtfully enlarged, creating a more open and airy atmosphere ideal for family gatherings and entertaining. A larger mudroom was constructed adjacent to the garage, providing practical storage and organization for outdoor gear and seasonal items. The outdoor experience was enhanced through the enlargement of the existing screen porch, now offering a perfect setting for enjoying the natural surroundings without the intrusion of insects. A new covered porch was introduced off the dining room, allowing for al fresco dining and relaxation regardless of the weather. The deck was also expanded, creating a larger area for outdoor activities and leisure. On the second level, we added a thoughtfully designed bunk room that accommodates additional guests, along with a new bathroom for convenience and privacy. Access to the bonus room above the garage was improved, ensuring that every inch of space is utilized effectively. From a design perspective, the exterior was adorned with striking timber beams and brackets, which not only enhance the rustic aesthetic but also provide structural integrity. A stunning new balcony off the master bedroom offers breathtaking views of Torch Lake, serving as a private sanctuary for relaxation. The meticulous craftsmanship is evident in the detailed trim work and the newly applied stains, which harmonize with the natural environment and enhance the overall appeal of the cottage. The Torch Lake Timber Remodel stands as a testament to thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship, resulting in an inviting and functional space that honors the cottage's original character while providing modern amenities and comfort.
