Muttontown - Morell Landscape Associates Located in the lovely hamlet of Muttontown, the Muttontown is a true showcase of the talent and fine work of Morell Landscape Associates. The extensive landscaping upgrade incorporated a thoughtful mix of native plantings, hardscapes and sustainable design principles based on the goals of the clients. We started with a thorough site analysis, taking note of the natural topography of the site and the existing plants. We then used a combination of native shrubs and perennials, thinking the landscape not only in terms of aesthetics, but also in terms of ecology. Included in the plant selection were native wildflowers and established evergreens, which provided a range of colors and textures throughout the year. One of the most attractive features of the is a beautiful stone patio, which is built with a local bluestone. The stone work created an inviting outside place, with custom built seating walls to provide seating space. The patio is surrounded by gardens and provides an intimate space for the family to gather or enjoy quiet moments. During the we faced challenges, with drainage issues as a result of the existing slope on the site. Morell’s skilled staff, turned these challenges into opportunities, by designing and implementing an underground drainage system. This drainage system provides both the longevity and health of the landscaping, while allowing water to drain and preventing pooling. Overall the results were stunning! The Muttontown is a perfect example of combining natural beauty and nature’s handiwork, creating a private oasis in the backyard. The satisfied client now enjoys a beautiful landscape, which not only improves their home’s property value, but provides satisfaction in their daily life.
