Stone & Water, Lincoln, MA With picturesque Lincoln, Massachusetts as the backdrop, CHRISTIE DUSTMAN & COMPANY INC. transformed a private residence into tranquil oasis with the Stone & Water . The ambitious included the combination of natural stone features with a water element to create a stunning landscape of serenity infused with beauty. The began with a pondcustom design with a waterfall that spills over natural boulders. The pond provided not only a visual and auditory dominate feature for the garden, but it also brought wildlife as a habitat for frogs and birds. The edge of the pond was planted with aquatics that are native to the areaa nod to sustainability and visual delight. Hardscape, with locally sourced granite and bluestone, was thoughtfully laid out to define the paths and seating areas that would support outdoor living. These materials were chosen not only for durability, but also for visual appeal that would meld with the environment. The site presented topographic challenges, which were thoughtfully overcome with creative solutions to create a patio area level with site without compromising the natural flow of the undulating landscape. Lighting was then placed to accent the stone features and water detail for evening magic. Native plantings were installed, ranging from ornamental grasses to flowering shrubs, to provide seasonal interest and the reflection off of the water and folding of the plants in the breeze. The Stone & Water not only fulfilled the client's request, but also exceeded it and became a place for the client to retreat with family to reminisce, contemplate life, or simply sit for peace and quiet.
