About This Project

Herb Garden by Grounded Situated in the picturesque countryside of Covesville, Grounded executed the “Herb Garden” and transformed a once underused area into an exciting and functional culinary space. This is a representation of Grounded’s commitment to quality and originality at the service of the communities of Esmont, Faber, Howardsville, Keene, North Garden, Schuyler, and Scottsville and beyond. The design is comprised of a series of raised cedar planters, constructed with ventilation in mind for water and soil health. We also incorporated a variety of herbs such as basil, rosemary, thyme, and mint, all of which have culinary utility and beautiful scents. An easy access layout was used, because maintenance was a key feature of how the planters were integrated so our client enjoyed managing his own green treasures. One of the challenges of the site was the uneven ground, which we graded for a more balanced way for visitors to flow through the garden. We also implemented a drip irrigation system to conserve water while being assured each herb received the loving water it needed to stand up to the hot summer days and seasons. Natural stone pathways surround the herb beds, bringing an aesthetic quality to draw folks into the lush vegetation. We also placed a rustic wooden trellis with climbing vines to create another vertical focal point to delight the garden visitors. Overall, we created a beautiful herb garden that met and achieved the client’s hopes and expectations for a culinary place where flavors thrive and imagination is inspired. The client expressed pure joy by being able to harvest herbs to use in his kitchen while enriching his cooking and lifestyle. The herb garden represents Grounded’s desire to transform landscapes into people’s homes by creating personalized sustainable engagement spaces that were intended to produce happiness and functional spaces.
