The Black and White Modern Classic Kitchen project transformed a previously closed-off kitchen and family room into a stunning open-concept space that embodies both elegance and functionality. Located in Las Vegas, NV, this project began in 2018 and was carefully executed within a budget of $50,001 to $75,000. The homeowner's vision of creating a seamless flow between the kitchen and great room was achieved by strategically removing the surrounding walls, an archway, and a coat closet, resulting in a cohesive and inviting area perfect for both family gatherings and entertaining guests. In the heart of this modern classic design are the new white shaker cabinets, which provide a bright and timeless aesthetic while offering ample storage. The flooring was a primary focus of the renovation, featuring black and white 12x12 porcelain tiles arranged in a classic checkerboard pattern that pays homage to vintage 1950s design while maintaining a contemporary appeal. Additionally, the living areas and hallway were enhanced with sleek black 12x24 porcelain tiles, expertly replacing four mismatched flooring types that previously disrupted the visual harmony of the space. Craftsmanship played a significant role in achieving the desired outcome, with meticulous attention paid to the installation of a Broan glass range hood and a slide-in range, complemented by a striking backsplash made of shiny black textured wave subway tiles with framed inset tiles. This combination not only elevates the kitchen's aesthetic but also enhances its functionality, providing a modern yet classic cooking experience. To further maximize the layout, an archway was opened while an ill-configured bedroom door was closed off, transforming the space into an efficient office area. This thoughtful design maximizes usability and ensures that every corner of the home serves a purpose. The overall result is a beautifully coordinated black and white kitchen that seamlessly integrates with the great room, offering a sophisticated and inviting environment for daily living and entertaining.
