Estate Landscape , Armonk, NY Located in a beautiful landscape of Armonk, NY, this estate landscape is a renovation by Robert D. Schweitzer Jr. Landscape Architect of a traditional outdoor space into a beautiful retreat. This serves the surrounding region, Greenwich, Westport, and beyond, and is a testament to our attention to quality, function, detail, and care. The included a fully designed renovation of the estate's gardens, pathways, and outdoor living space. The key features include a dramatic bluestone patio that curves beautifully with the land, creating an ideal outdoor space for gatherings. Native plant types were selected for the overall design plan to increase biodiversity and minimize maintenance while creating a landscape that would thrive in all seasons. To enhance quiet ambiance, we added a water element with ordered plantings surrounding it. To create visual interest and divide garden zones, boulders were strategically placed. One of the challenges associated with this was the slope of the land. To mitigate the slope in a natural and aesthetically pleasing way, we used tiered planting. The tiered planting provided access and drainage benefits. Quality materials were used for the landscape, including sustainably sourced hardwood for raised garden beds and durable, weather-resistant outdoor furnishing options in the hardscaping. The end result is a landscape that fulfills the client's aesthetics and reflects their lifestyle needs. The outdoor space serves the family well for finalized cozy evenings together and gatherings with them under the stars.
