The Transitional Family Room Refresh in a traditional split-level home located in Hamilton, Cincinnati, exemplifies a harmonious blend of comfort and style, tailored to meet the owners’ vision for a casual yet elegant space. The project commenced with a thoughtful assessment of the existing family room, characterized by its darker interiors and dated furnishings. To achieve a fresh and inviting atmosphere, the wall color above the paneling was lightened, creating a brighter canvas that enhances the natural light and overall openness of the room. The previously dark brick was painted, further contributing to a lighter aesthetic and allowing for a more contemporary feel. Attention to detail was paramount in the selection of materials and furnishings. High-quality broadloom carpet was installed underfoot, providing both comfort and a sense of warmth. The outdated plaid upholstery was replaced with transitional lines and vibrant fabrics that infuse energy into the space while maintaining a relaxed vibe reminiscent of lake life. The choice of Ethan Allen shoreline photography as a focal point introduces a clean and graphic punch to the decor, seamlessly integrating casual lake references that resonate with the homeowners' desires. The incorporation of distressed "Glacier" finish casegoods adds an element of rustic charm, ensuring the space remains light and approachable.
