The goal of the was to take advantage of the scenery and design an oasis that will bring joy to the outside for the clients by providing them a place to retreat to at home where nature meets functionality. The started with an in-depth consultation to determine the clients' vision for their backyard. We evaluated the space and spaces within, recognizing where we could improve its potential, even with existing obstacles, including lots of uneven feet and places in the space where it doesn't quite get enough sun. Our solution to these challenges was to create tiered planting beds, with hardscaping strategically interspersed to ensure proper drainage and adequate sunlight for the verdant plant life to thrive. An outdoor stone patio designed just for this type of setting in this case, locally sourced flagstone is a defining feature of the Backyard Relaxation . The element creates in this welcome space, at the heart of outdoor events, with a built-in fireplace and couches. We also installed a peaceful water feature that flows into a small pond providing soft background sound while also offering a home to some local wildlife that makes the space its own. One of the most important components of the was the careful selection of native plants. We selected drought tolerant varieties compatible with the wet-dry climate of Walnut Creek to provide colorful blooms through the seasons with less water. Designing flowering shrubs and ornamental grasses enhanced the beauty of the property and also allowed other privacy from neighbours. Our vision and hard work came to fruition in a beautiful outdoor oasis that the clients never dreamed could be possible. We received that feedback and their delightfulness was that the elements blended well together and the space balanced relaxation with function.
