A landscape such as this can be designed in many forms from many directions and our job was to create a functioning recreational landscape that is serene, that connects the owners to the contours of the earth all over again and serves a wide variety of communities including Ashburn, Great Falls and Tysons Corner. This particular included a beautifully detailed dry creek bed for both aesthetics and to handle the drainage. We used a selection of natural stones, boulders, and river rock for an organically flowing look but still with durability and permanence. This area filled with a community of native plants comes together to create a medley of green along the banks of the creek bed, and this diverse group of plants acts as a home for many local wildlife that call this area their home. That said, one of the greater difficulties we battled was the slope (and the way that it influences water stream after an overwhelming downpour). Using creative techniques, our talented crew sculpted the land to direct water through the dry creek bed naturally, and avoid erosion to provide a sustainable solution for the property. The end results is a stunner that conveniently merges usefulness with looks. A peaceful outdoor sanctuary was created with meandering pathways, seating areas, and bloom-filled gardens for the client's enjoyment. Here at HEMAX we are known for our detail orientation and craftsmanship, and the 'Drycreeks' shows how we always go the extra mile to please the customer. Each stone we placed and plant we chose, we did so with mindful intent of practicality and composition, to build a well-functioning landscape that also serves as a lovely view for your favourite memories. We received this ecstatic response from our client: A great example of how smart landscaping can transform a home.
