About This Project

The 80's House with Open Plan Renovation represents a transformative journey that redefines the living experience within this charming home. By removing the back-to-back masonry fireplaces that once dominated the center of the house, we created a seamless connection between the living area and the kitchen/dining space. This strategic decision not only enhanced the flow of the home but also opened up opportunities for natural light to infiltrate every corner of the living space. In a further bid to enhance the home’s functionality, we also removed the wall separating the living area from the screened porch. By enclosing the porch with glass, we created an inviting, multifunctional area that serves as an extension of the living space, perfect for entertaining or enjoying a quiet moment with a view of the outdoors. The glass enclosure allows for abundant sunlight to filter through, creating a bright and airy atmosphere throughout the day. To complement the open design, we installed a large triple window above the kitchen sink that maximizes the influx of sunlight, creating a warm and inviting workspace. This window not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the kitchen but also provides a direct view to the deck, allowing for effortless indoor-outdoor living. The choice of materials and finishes was carefully curated to reflect a beach style that resonates with the tranquil surroundings, featuring soft hues and natural textures that evoke a sense of calm and relaxation. The craftsmanship involved in this renovation is evident in the meticulous attention to detail, from the seamless transitions between spaces to the elegant finishing touches that tie the design together. The outcome is a beautifully renovated home that embraces modern living while honoring its original charm, making it an ideal sanctuary for family gatherings or quiet retreats. This project, completed in 2019 with a budget ranging from $200,001 to $500,000, showcases how thoughtful design can breathe new life into a beloved space, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal for years to come.
