About This Project

The Litchfield Porch & Facade Renovation project transformed a previously unwelcoming and deteriorated exterior into an inviting coastal retreat that harmonizes with its surroundings. The existing porch, deck, and entry steps were not only worn but also detracted from the home’s overall appeal, largely due to the oversized cypress siding, which, while unique, created a rather uninviting atmosphere. Recognizing the potential for improvement, we undertook a comprehensive renovation that would enhance both functionality and aesthetics. Our first step involved the complete removal of the existing porch and deck, followed by the meticulous reconstruction of these elements, which were enlarged by a couple of feet to provide additional space and comfort. This thoughtful expansion facilitates a more welcoming entry while allowing for greater enjoyment of the outdoor environment. For the new siding, we opted for Hardie board & batten at the first level, paired with Hardie shingles on the upper level, both of which offer enhanced durability and a fresh, modern appearance. This choice not only elevates the visual appeal but also ensures resilience against the elements, making it a practical long-term investment for the homeowners. To further improve the aesthetic and functional aspects of the home, the outdated lattice was replaced with random width "gap board," adding a contemporary touch and visual interest. Additionally, we removed the existing pines and cedars that obstructed the view, allowing the house to stand out while framing the remaining live oaks as a stunning natural feature. The outcome of the Litchfield Porch & Facade Renovation is a beautifully revitalized home that embodies a beach style aesthetic, inviting residents and visitors alike to enjoy the charm and comfort of this coastal haven. This project not only enhances curb appeal but also creates a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces, making it a true gem in the neighborhood.
