Harriet Green Roof

Harriet Green Roof Landscape Renovations, Inc. completed the Harriet Green Roof as part of a green landscaping to change urban living to become more sustainable, while increasing biodiversity in a neighborhood located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This consisted of a large green roofing system, which featured several native plant species, including sedums, ornamental grasses, and flowering perennials. The plants were selected based on their hardiness with the local climate and the ability to tolerate rooftop environments, providing a colorful display in every season. One challenge was the concern of prior structural issues, which we thoroughly diagnosed and presented solutions for collaboratively with engineers. The adjustments we made reinforced the roof for additional load capacity while factoring for the waterlogged vegetation. During the , we were able to meticulously assure we met all installation and safety requirements for installation and roof performance. In addition to the abundant vegetation, we built a water-efficient irrigation system into the install; which costs less while meeting drilled hole irrigation heat and hydrating plant types and beds. Using sustainable and recycled materials for the planting trays and the moisture retention layer showcases our commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices. The end product is a breathtaking green oasis, providing buildings occupants with an expansive area to de-stress. The will positively impact the environment by benefiting stormwater management, improved air quality, and urban biodiversity.
