About This Project

This transitional kitchen remodel transformed a three-year-old subdivision home from an uninspired builder-grade space into a custom-designed culinary haven. The project began with the removal of a half octagonal peninsula, allowing for a reconfiguration of the kitchen footprint that opened up the area and enhanced flow. Our design incorporated a fireclay farm sink, a double waste pullout unit for efficient waste management, and a unique family heirloom butcher block that now takes center stage, elegantly mounted with a custom-built frame on the newly formed peninsula. To elevate the aesthetic appeal and functionality, we replaced the existing flooring with upgraded hand-scraped wide plank hardwood, adding warmth and character to the space. The cabinetry was a significant focus of the remodel; we installed ceiling-height stacked cabinets that replaced the original 36-inch units. These new cabinets feature upper 4-lite mullion doors, enhancing the transitional style while providing ample storage. To illuminate the kitchen effectively, we outfitted the cabinetry with three zones of Task LED tape lighting, ensuring a bright and inviting environment for cooking and entertaining. Additionally, we recognized the need for supplementary space and converted an adjacent closet into a butler's pantry. This functional upgrade includes a microwave base cabinet and a beverage cooler, perfect for hosting gatherings and maintaining a clutter-free kitchen. The careful selection of materials and thoughtful design choices reflect a commitment to craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail. The outcome is a harmonious blend of style and practicality, offering not only a beautiful kitchen but also a highly functional space tailored to the needs of a modern family.
