The Powder Room is a stunning transformation of a former butcher shop into a vibrant 1920's-inspired cocktail lounge, showcasing the creative vision of Matt Wagner Design and the cocktail expertise of Moriah Rose. The project utilized an existing unused apartment within the building, allowing for a significant expansion of the bar and lounge seating while efficiently maintaining the back-of-house areas. This innovative use of space has resulted in an inviting atmosphere that seamlessly blends nostalgic charm with modern functionality. The interior design features an array of custom-crafted elements that enhance the lounge’s aesthetic appeal. Exquisite custom tile work was employed throughout the space, complemented by elegant cherry wood built-ins that provide both style and utility. Unique wall coverings add depth and character, creating an engaging visual narrative that resonates with the 1920's theme. One of the standout features of The Powder Room is the brass-studded zinc bar top, which serves as a focal point for patrons, inviting them to indulge in expertly crafted cocktails. Beyond its striking design, the renovations were meticulously executed to ensure full compliance with contemporary plumbing, accessibility (ADA), and health codes. This commitment to safety and usability ensures that all guests can enjoy the space without concern. Collaborating with Key Construction Company as the general contractor, along with engineering support from Acura Engineering and custom metalwork by Vogler Metalworks, the project exemplifies high craftsmanship and attention to detail. Completed in 2019 and with a cost range between $500,001 and $750,000, The Powder Room has emerged as a premier destination in Evansville, IN, captivating visitors with its eclectic exterior and sophisticated interi.
