CARSON DOUGLAS LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE: East Coast Office Landscaped by Carson Douglas Landscape Architecture Located within the heartbeat of the San Diego Community, the East Coast Office by Carson Douglas Landscape Architecture is an integrated success of utility and beauty. This integrated landscaping , how they converted a normal office into a green residential place and how it worked as a beautiful workplace to their employees and visitors. A highlight of the is the entrance where a selection of native plants, chosen for their low maintenance and drought resistance, contribute to a sense of welcoming and place. Permeable pavers line the pathways, matching the modern architecture, as well as aiding in stormwater management, which helps with drainage and sustainability. It was a unique challenge for the overall design team given the limited space available and those mature trees already existing which needed to be integrated into the design. Instead, these trees were made central, not to overcome, but to enhance the landscape. A meditation garden complete with a gentle water feature was also added, serving as a calming oasis for employees to recharge. ONLY THE BEST: Natural stone, reclaimed wood and eco-friendly mulch were used to help make it last but also keep that harmony with nature. The outcome is a pristine field that serves the operational purposes of the office while also enhancing the visual character of its surroundings. The end result made the client extremely proud of the newly alive bright airiness of the 'East Coast Office.'
