Water Feature by Rock Water Farm Rock Water Farm is pleased to showcase our latest landscaping , the "Water Feature", located in the tranquil area of Aldie. This client's modest backyard was transformed into a calming retreat that brought together the sounds of moving water and natural landscape to create a serene outdoor space. The process began with a thorough consultation with the homeowner to establish what their vision and preferences were. Our landscape designers strategically developed a multi-tiered pond with a lovely waterfall cascading into a quiet basin. All stone was selected from a local stone supply to assure continuity with the aesthetic of the site, while providing a sense of belonging and elegance. An early challenge was the need to design the water feature to fit into the sloped topography of the site. Our landscape contractors implemented innovative engineering to provide a stable structure for the pond and waterfall while assuring proper drainage to avoid muddy water, and erosion of the surrounding ground. A high-quality filtration system was also put into place so that the pond would be low maintenance, and achieve perfection in terms of clarity. Surrounding the water feature, native plants were used including: ferns, ornament grasses, and flowering perennials. Plant selection improved the visual quality of the pond and attracted wildlife, contributing to the site's ecology, seasonal color, and texture, encouraging year-round habitation at the water feature. The end result exceeded the clients expectations and transformed their yard into a calming retreat space. The calming sound of moving water, and the visual quality of moving water and greenery created the perfect environment for relaxation and entertainment with friends.
