About This Project

The Old World Details - Braeswood project exemplifies a comprehensive transformation that honors a family's journey over 25 years, culminating in a beautifully designed home that accommodates their evolving needs. Located in Tulsa, OK, this design/build endeavor was initiated in 2016 as the third collaboration with the owners. The previous projects established a strong foundation of trust, making this final stage particularly meaningful. The project began with a critical assessment of the existing kitchen, which was a stark reminder of the 1980s, characterized by its dark and dated aesthetics. The layout was cramped, with a wall that restricted traffic flow between the kitchen and hallway. By removing this wall, we created a more open and inviting space that enhanced both functionality and movement. The outdated appliances and laminate countertops were stripped away, along with the unsightly seven-foot orangey-ash cabinets that detracted from the room's potential. In our design choices, we opted for a harmonious blend of glazed and stained knotty alder cabinets, which not only provided a warm, rustic charm but also ensured durability and longevity. The owners selected a stunning piece of granite for the countertops, adding a unique focal point that seamlessly tied together the kitchen's overall design. The flooring was upgraded to reflect contemporary tastes, replacing the undulating Mexican tile with materials that offered a fresh and cohesive look. This transformation not only revitalized the kitchen but also significantly enhanced the home’s overall aesthetic and functionality. The result is a welcoming, family-centric space that invites gatherings and cherished moments, perfectly suited for accommodating married children and grandchildren. The Old World Details - Braeswood project stands as a testament to thoughtful design, superior craftsmanship, and the enduring legacy of a family home.
