About This Project

The Greene Residence Being DWY Landscape Architects, this passion of ours shows in all our work, none better than at The Greene Residence. A private residence along the shores of Longboat Key presented the challenge of reimagining it's landscape to public space that welcomes the surrounding environment, in harmony with the coastal charm of all the adjacent sport. The contained a variety of curated items, such as native Florida plants, to serve as landscaping and help with sustainability. We included bougainvillea, jasmine, and ferns, colorful low water plants to capture local pollinators, appropriate for the climate. The permeable paves were used as pathways to guarantee the retainment of water runoff by maintaining the ecosystem. The property is on a slope, which made it one of our major challenges. To fix this in a way that would also be attractive and functional, we created garden beds that would be built at multiple heights to make the garden more dynamic while also giving us great opportunities for different planting opportunities. We took painstaking efforts to manage the drainage and soil profile so that erosion did not occur and a firm base existed for the plant life to flourish above. Another addition, a custom fire pit with surrounding seating, became a gathering point for the family inside the outdoor living space. Locally sourced natural stone gave it an authentic, integrated feel in the natural surroundings. In addition, we added soft outdoor lighting to illuminate the excellent plantings and structure, ensuring the space can be used day or night. The end result was a stunning landscape to which the client felt the photos don't even do it justice as the property was transformed into a tranquil oasis. The Greene Residence is now a refined equilibrium of form and function, and a true example of the DWY Landscape Architects quality of craftsmanship. We have a long-standing dedication to quality that has forged a presence up and down Longboat Key, and we are proud to contribute to the desirability of this gorgeous home.
