The Boeker Ave Roof Deck Renovation project in Shell Beach began with a simple request to repair a few cracks and refresh the deck with a clean coat of paint. However, upon inspection, it became clear that the underlying issues were far more extensive than initially anticipated. The existing deck had been improperly installed, lacking essential features such as functional drains, and had significant rusting in the flashing. This prompted a complete overhaul of the structure to ensure a long-lasting and effective solution. To initiate the renovation, we meticulously protected the surrounding surfaces with plywood and tarps before dismantling the faulty deck down to the plywood base. This phase involved not only the removal of the existing decking but also the opening of the stucco to replace the deteriorated flashing. All outdated waterproofing materials were disposed of properly, making way for a fresh start. Our team installed new, high-quality flashings and integrated six Thunderbird 4″ bowl deck drains to enhance water management. Additionally, crickets were strategically placed between the scuppers to facilitate proper drainage. The application of Desert Crete, covering over 550 square feet, serves as a robust waterproofing solution designed to protect this million-dollar ocean view property effectively. The craftsmanship extended beyond structural improvements; our talented team also repaired the stucco, ensuring a seamless finish. The final touch was the application of an orange peel texture with a Sandalwood sealer from Desert Brand, which not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also provides added protection.
