About This Project

The Greenwood Brush-Up project revitalized a charming 1912 Craftsman bungalow in Seattle, transforming it into a modern haven while preserving its historical integrity. The primary objective of the renovation was to add a spacious Master suite along with a shared bathroom to the second floor, effectively enhancing the functionality and comfort of the home. The clients were drawn to EGA for our expertise in harmonizing contemporary design elements with the traditional characteristics of the existing structure and its surrounding neighborhood. The design phase was meticulously planned to respect the original architectural style, maintaining the bungalow's distinctive features such as the gable roof and natural wood finishes. The exterior was rejuvenated with a fresh blue hue, complementing the traditional Craftsman aesthetics while ensuring the home stood out beautifully within the community. Inside, the layout was reconfigured to allow for a seamless flow between the newly created spaces, ensuring both practicality and comfort for the homeowners. In light of budget considerations, the renovation was strategically phased, with the Master bathroom initially plumbed but left unfinished to be utilized as a storage area. However, as the project progressed, the clients decided to complete this space, alongside several other areas in the house, adding luxurious touches such as custom cabinetry and high-end fixtures that reflect their personal style. The craftsmanship showcased throughout the renovation is evident, from the meticulous woodwork to the carefully selected materials that enhance the home's character. The result is a perfectly balanced blend of old-world charm and modern amenities, creating a welcoming retreat that honors its rich history while catering to contemporary living. The Greenwood Brush-Up project not only revitalized the home but also solidified its place within the vibrant fabric of Seattle's architectural heritage.
