The Loyola Avenue project involved a comprehensive renovation of a vintage apartment building situated in a prime location bordering Loyola University and just steps from Lake Michigan. Tasked by our client, Laramar Group, the goal was to revitalize the building's common spaces and transform underutilized back-of-house areas into inviting amenity spaces. The remodeling efforts spanned both the ground and top levels of the building, focusing on preserving the intricate ornamental and vintage details that characterize its historical charm. On the ground floor, the renovation included the creation of a welcoming entry vestibule that sets the tone for residents and visitors alike. The main lobby was thoughtfully redesigned to enhance functionality while complementing the building's vintage aesthetic. An elevator lobby was introduced, complete with an adjacent mail room that serves as a convenient resource for residents. A small window nook featuring cozy bench seating was added, providing a perfect spot for relaxation and informal gatherings, while two annexed storage rooms were incorporated to maximize community space. Throughout the project, a strong emphasis was placed on craftsmanship and material selection. The original wood paneling and plaster details, including charming motifs and half-timbering, were meticulously restored to their former glory, ensuring that the integrity of the building's architecture remained intact. These historic elements were harmoniously balanced with new modern finishes and features that elevate the overall experience of the residents. The outcome of the Loyola Avenue renovation is a beautifully refreshed environment that honors the past while embracing contemporary living.
