About This Project

Semi Wild: Full of Life Sophie Bignet Landscape Design is pleased to present 'Semi Wild: Full of Life,' a landscape transformation completed in the middle of Boston. This innovative design combines natural beauty with functional outdoor living while enriching an underutilized area. The landscape was designed with a variety of native plant species that flourish in our climate; an explosion of wildflowers, ornamental grasses, and durable shrubs and perennials that attract pollinators and increase biodiversity. A winding path of reclaimed stone pavers invites through the space and provides a native seating area with boulders and oad focal points, ultimately blurring the lines between pathways and garden beds. One of the significant challenges we faced was working with the unleveled and poor condition of the soil found at the site. In the end, we ended up applying a lot of soil amendments and drainage so that the plants had a fighting chance of surviving in their new environment. Additionally, we introduced a rain garden to facilitate stormwater runoff, which serves a dual purpose; they benefit the surrounding environment and add aesthetic interest to the overall landscape experience. The end product reflects a healthy balance of cultivated and wild landscapes, but it ultimately feels serene, inviting, and alive all at the same time. The client was beaming to see the landscape transformed in such vibrant lushness, as of now the landscape serves as a beautiful sanctuary or refuge for themselves as well as wildlife. The client reiterated multiple times their commitment to maintenance and care to continue the plants growth is a testament to our aesthetics and design process. With a keen attention to detail and the commitment to quality the Sophie Bignet Landscape Design team showcased their design expertise once again with creativity and beauty that has long lasting spatial resonance. This adds value to the property while recognizing a dignified balance of opportunity for their human experience and wildlife, our design ethos upon which we stand.
