In the heart of Pittsburgh, PA, the "Modern Touch" project transformed a traditional home into a contemporary haven, balancing functionality with modern aesthetics. The scope of this renovation focused on reimagining the first floor to create a more open and inviting space for family gatherings and social interactions. By removing the front entry closet and hallway, we significantly enlarged the family room, allowing for a more fluid flow between spaces. The integration of the kitchen and dining room was achieved by removing the separating wall, facilitating the introduction of a stylish peninsula. This peninsula not only provides additional counter space but also features counter-height seating, perfect for casual meals and entertaining. A standout feature of the renovation is the newly added walk-in pantry, conveniently situated to lead into the back hall. This addition not only enhances storage options but also contributes to the overall functionality of the kitchen area. The existing small powder room was thoughtfully updated, ensuring that it meets modern standards while maintaining the charm of the home. In the family room, we included a large entertainment unit designed to accommodate a flat-screen television and an electric fireplace, creating a cozy and engaging focal point for family and friends to gather around. To ensure durability and ease of maintenance, the entire first floor was finished with high-quality floating laminate flooring, specifically chosen for its resistance to stains and scratches. This choice of material not only enhances the visual appeal of the home but also provides longevity, making it ideal for a busy family environment. The result is a harmonious blend of contemporary design and practical living, marking a successful evolution of the space that resonates with modern lifestyles while honoring the home’s traditional roots.
