The Herrera Residence - Rancho Mirage Completed by Hermann Design Group, the 'Herrera Residence' in Rancho Mirage is an exquisite example of a luxury landscape that combines beauty and performance. Large-scale outdoor features - including a prominent water feature that is the focal point of a beautiful collection of native desert plants - have been expertly designed and executed. To create an inviting outdoor living space that complements a desert landscape, the design utilized high-quality materials (natural stone and sustainably sourced timber). A main design challenge was managing the extreme temperature changes commonly experienced in the Coachella Valley while ensuring vegetation thrived year-round. To solve this issue, we installed a higher-end irrigation system that utilized water more efficiently while providing the plants with proper hydration for robust growth, even in the hotter months. In addition to the water feature, the includes a custom fire pit for nighttime gatherings and a built-in outdoor kitchen for entertaining. The drought-resistant plants selected for their aesthetic contributions further reduce water consumption while still achieving the highly desired level of beauty. The final result is a magnificent landscape that exceeded the client's expectations and turned the Herrera Residence into a true oasis in the Desert.
