About This Project

An Atlanta Home in Buckhead This private residence in Buckhead was recently wrapped up by Bellwether Landscape Architects. Another example of our sensitivity to the landscape design process. Tucked in one of hottest neighborhoods in Atlanta, this home required style with substance. We designed and built a subterranean landscape crafted over multiple terraces with gardens, water features, and outdoor comfortable living spaces. Native flora is integrated into the design to encourage biodiversity & reduce maintenance. We pulled from a palette of drought-hardy perennials, ornamental grasses, and blooming flowering shrubs that please the senses throughout the seasons to create an ever-evolving landscape that is a feast for the eyes year-round. There were challenges on this including a site that was both a bunch of topography changes as well as drainage problems. We came up with a few creative design solutions, one of which was to use retaining walls to solve drainage issues while using natural stone to bring in more aesthetics. Finally, we introduced permeable paving for pathways to help absorb and disperse excess water and lessen runoff. Its design is heavily centered around an outdoor entertainment area, with custom pergola, seating, and lighting. It leads to a sprawling lawn, perfect for gatherings with family and friends and outdoor fun! Adding this tranquil koi pond, which helps to make the peaceful escape away from the city life. The outcome, above and beyond what our client could imagine, turned their outdoor area into a private oasis, tailored to them and their style.
