Backyard Makeover - Katy, TX Texas Urban Elements is excited to showcase an impressive suburban backyard renovation in Katy, TX, that started as a blank canvas and ended as a beautiful backyard escape. This extensive renovation was done with functionality and web design in mind, given the client’s vision of a relaxing retreat that could be used by the family and guests outdoors. We began this by looking at the existing landscape and noting a few noteworthy issues; there were areas of pooling water, drainage issue, and limited sunlight in certain areas of the yard. We installed a modern French drain system to combat these issues, allowing for better water management and protecting the garden’s integrity. The plant list is a mix of native Texan plants like hardier shrubs and perennials that have the advantage of being reliable and attract pollinators representing local diversity. A beautiful flagstone patio was installed to allow for a perfect transition from indoor-to-outdoor living. The stone selected is durable and beautiful, the perfect option for family dining and sitting outside enjoying time in the outdoors. Part of the patio was adorned with an inviting pergola covered with climbing vines, allowing for both shade and delightful looks in the space. Also designed in the scope was a fire pit to add warmth and enjoyment for evening festivities under the stars. Along with the arranged stone, there was also a lot of quality materials used throughout the ; long-lasting and maintenance free. Along with any custom site work that was done, eco-friendly mulch was used, along with composted soil in the garden beds. The end result is a beautiful backyard that balances functional with gorgeous. The client has said it is one of the most serene backyards/hangout locations they have been at in Austin.
