Drought Tolerant California Contemporary by Star Landscape & Exterior Designs, Inc. Star Landscape & Exterior Designs, Inc. is excited to introduce our latest , "Drought Tolerant California Contemporary," a beautiful landscape renovation that emphasizes sustainable landscaping and captures the distinct appearance of the California natural landscape. Our firm serves areas from Bellflower to Newport Beach, and designed this landscape with numerous native California plants that can thrive in drought conditions and still provide a modern aesthetic. The incorporates several native California plants, such as California poppies and succulents that are well-suited to our unique climate and long-lived, while also requiring little water. The use of permeable pavers allowed rainwater to infiltrate the surface due to improved drainage; the pathway created a striking visual appearance while also allowing rainwater to recharge groundwater and reduce runoff. To further the contemporary look of the garden, ornamental grasses were placed in the raised metal planters, which added texture and motion to the landscape. A notable challenge of installation was the rocky site typical to the region. Star Landscape & Exterior Designs, Inc. solved for this constraint with detail-oriented design and installation of high-quality soil amendments and terracing to create a layered and inviting garden. These methods improved drainage and added dimension and color to the outdoor area. In conclusion, the result of the landscape renovation was a beautiful and inviting outdoor space for the clients that provided them with a low-maintenance garden reflective of their sustainable value. The attention to detail and craftsmanship created a soothing home space that provided a seamless transition from indoors and complemented the contemporary style of the architecture of their home.
