The Back to the 70's Kitchen remodel elegantly captures the charm of a 1970s home while infusing it with modern functionality and style. The client's vision was to create a seamless blend of the original design elements with contemporary features, resulting in a space that harmonizes beautifully with the rest of the home. A significant transformation was achieved by removing the wall that separated the informal dining area from the family room, which not only expanded the kitchen footprint but also enhanced the natural light flooding into the space. The cabinetry selection plays a pivotal role in achieving the desired aesthetic, featuring Decor's Dove Wing-painted upper cabinets paired with richly stained walnut lower cabinets. The dark walnut slab-style base cabinets serve as a grounding element, complementing the darker wood tones prevalent throughout the home, while the slim-shaker white uppers create an airy, open atmosphere. The design emphasizes vertical lines with a refined touch, from the tall walnut crown molding that defines the space to the vertical-set green Japanese tile backsplash, reminiscent of the 1970s. Central to the kitchen's functionality is an impressive custom walnut reeded hood, reflecting a popular 1970s feature. The expansive island, topped with polished 2cm Corian Quartz in Novello, offers ample seating and storage, making it ideal for family gatherings and entertaining.
