Lakewood Craftsman

Narrative: Lakewood Craftsman Vireo Design Studio, LLC is excited to present the Lakewood Craftsman , a thoughtful remodel located in one of Seattle's most desirable neighborhoods. This landscaping was focused on maintaining the existing natural beauty of this property and working toward an integration of the architectural elements of the home, the surrounding surroundings, and the clients' desires. Our team developed an all-encompassing landscape plan and implemented the plan. The landscape plan includes carefully curated layered plant beds with native species and a mixture of hardscaping elements. Materials such as locally sourced stone, durable hardwood decking, and decorative gravel were all chosen with the goal of reinforcing the craftsmanship of the home to ensure durability and ease of maintenance. One of the properties' main challenges was the slope of the property, which made developing terraced garden beds a unique and viable plan for improving accessibility while creating visual interest. Our expert landscaping teams constructed natural stone retaining walls to create walls of integrity and rustic appeal. A patio area was also incorporated for outdoor living space with a custom fire pit to be used socially or privately. Native plant species that enhanced biodiversity were chosen to use less water (thus maintenance) and usually provide color or texture year-round. Environmental themes included working with the existing landscape, as well as installed ambient (low-voltage) lighting carefully placed around the property to illuminate plantings and architectural features to allow for enjoyment of the outdoor experience at night. The final result is an incredibly beautiful landscape that reflects the clients' desires while addressing the current "Lakewood" characteristics of the property. Each design decision with careful planning, quality materials, and innovative cohesion collaborated to provide an incredible outdoor living experience that not only impressed our clients but has also elevated the standard of paisaje work.
