In the heart of Cape Elizabeth, ME, the Cape Elizabeth New Panoramas project redefined the possibilities of a modest one-story home, transforming it into a bright and inviting haven that embraces its stunning natural surroundings. The clients, who were drawn to the property for its proximity to tranquil wetlands and walking trails, sought to enhance their connection to nature. However, the original structure limited their ability to fully appreciate the breathtaking views and vibrant wildlife. The renovation's primary objective was clear: to bring the wetlands into the home and maximize natural light throughout the space. To achieve this vision, a significant architectural decision was made to remove the existing roof and construct a second story. This addition not only elevated the home's profile but also opened up expansive views of the wetlands, allowing natural light to flood the interi. The upper level features an enormous deck, designed to provide a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living, offering breathtaking vistas from all angles. This outdoor space serves as an ideal spot for relaxation and birdwatching, fulfilling the owner's passion for observing nature.
