Stonework, steps and walls

Summary: Stonework, Steps, and Walls by Landscape Studio Landscape Studio has completed another , "Stonework, Steps, and Walls." It's a fantastic transformation developed for a very selective client in North Atlanta. This entire landscape reflects our capabilities of using natural stone as part of a functional design for outdoor living spaces with aesthetic beauty and usable function. The stonework is a set of beautiful stone steps that takes you from the driveway to a newly constructed patio area, and integrates the property's flows seamlessly, both functionally and aesthetically. We sourced fieldstone and flagstone locally to use in this design, and also selected these stones based upon their durability and natural beauty. The range of colors available in the fieldstone and flagstone nature finished out beautifully to blend into the surrounding geography. Each stone was cut and laid to ensure a proper fit and optimal balance of aesthetics, safety, and functionality. There was a challenge concerning the sloped property, and we had to utilize some innovative engineering methods, specifically with retaining walls, to support the landscape while creating visual interest. Retaining walls were built out of vastly different stonework methods, utilizing dry stacked stonework, and reinforced concrete, to ensure the walls blended into the landscape the proper way. We designed the walls to contour the property and to manage drainage while protecting from erosion, while offering a gorgeous back drop for brightly colored plantings. We also designed new lush native plantings with soft lighting for a plush experience at night. The client was thrilled with the final product being able to have an inviting space for all families and friends with outdoor living space. The attention to detail and quality craftsmanship that Landscape Studio does is evident in each of these plans. From the initial design consultation to the final walk-through, we ensured that our client was satisfied with every aspect of their vision. This not only added value to the property, but also it was a true focal point for their family in the neighborhoods of nearby Alpharetta and Dunwoody.
