Del Mar Home by STONE + GROVE Landscape Architects At Del Mar Home, STONE + GROVE Landscape Architects was commissioned to take a blank space and transform it into an outdoor sanctuary that balances aesthetics and intention. Surrounded by the stunning views that California's coast offers, this residential showcases an innovative mix of native plantings, sustainable materials, and fresh design solutions. The design team made specific selections of drought-tolerant plants like succulents and ornamental grasses to create beautiful color schemes in all seasons while minimizing water use. A beautiful flagstone path, using stone pavers that are locally sourced, meanders through dense garden beds to a central gathering spot with a custom fire pit designed specifically for this . This inviting gathering area is well-suited both for entertaining guests and family gatherings, as well as simply enjoying evenings alone. One of the most prominent challenges of the property was the uneven nature of the site. STONE + GROVE was tasked with developing terraced garden beds to create a focus in the design that would also be accessible, and encourage appropriate drainage. The use of permeable pavers applied as driveway material improves sustainability by allowing water runoff from the new and existing hardscape to filter back into the landscape. The final result is a gorgeous garden that greatly enhances the outdoor experience of Del Mar Residence while demonstrating the owners' commitment to sustainable building materials. The clients were ecstatic with the due to its successful integration of form and function to enhance their outdoor experience while protecting the environment. Through thoughtful design, crafting solutions, and terrific landscaping, STONE + GROVE has designed a fairy-tale landscape that conveys the perfect spirit of California's coastal living.
