Chicago - Urban Front Garden by Hively Landscaping Inc. Hively Landscaping Inc. is excited to share the 'Chicago - Urban Front Garden,' a unique that substantially improves curb appeal while also creating an outdoor space that is relaxing, welcoming, and fits an urban lifestyle. Our Chicago Western suburb service area includes Naperville, Plainfield, Bolingbrook and Oswego. Our goal was to build the perfect front garden that is both beautiful and functional. This front garden design includes a range of native plants including perennials and ornamental grasses that will be low maintenance yet wildlife-supportive. The path of permeable pavers will promote adequate drainage and sustainability while elevating the modern sensibility of the as it leads visitors to the front door. To accommodate the tight urban landscape space and respond to the existing hardscapes, we proposed an organized design with raised beds to provide layering and visual interest. We had site challenges to overcome, including changes in grade and poor soil, that we addressed by recommending a soil amendment design and irrigation system to establish a healthy growing season for the plants to thrive for many years to come. We incorporated textured decorative boulders and mulch beds to create additional uniqueness and moisture retention to mitigate the urban heat island effect. The outcome was a stunning front-way garden that bridged welcoming the visitor to the space and inviting the owner a peaceful garden retreat. The client was thrilled with the transformation and commented on how wonderful the garden looked and while also being environmentally responsible.
