Mariposa Completed for our San Diego and encompassing area client, M&T Landscape Studios transformed a once drab backyard into a welcoming oasis light and beauty, where one could simply enjoy space to relax. Along those, as you'd expect from clients in San Diego, we included a near exclusive use of drought tolerant landscape materials that focused on California native wildflowers and a variety of ornamental grasses, arranged and balanced to show life's vibrancy and energy in a dynamic way within the harmony of nature's landscape. Natural stone pathways and patios finished with locally sourced flagstone, at the client's preference as well, complementing not only function but also aesthetics of visual interest, while using high quality permeable pavers in low lieing drainage areas to allow for better drainage and to lessen the impact to our local environment. A significant challenge faced by the design construction team was the steep-grade yard needing innovative terracing solutions. Our team was innovative and constructed elegant retaining walls from natural boulders that all served to stabilize the soil while giving extra texture utilitarian interest to the landscape. Irrigation was designed and constructed into the backyard using very efficient smart technology watering to sow what for all practical proposes easy and low friction structures to care for, while aquifer monitoring and evaporation values are actively speaking to optimal watering usage, with the breadth of lush greenery and the full horticultural aesthetics enjoyed by the client year 'round. The final outcome is astonishing. In a short distance from their home, they have a beautiful outdoor for themselves, family and friends to share or a cozy fire and ambiance to sit outside and brighten their spirit on a summer or autumn evening, and the butterfly garden that attracts native pollinators creates an ecosystem adding sounds and sights of life is exceeded their lengths of transformeation.
