Neilish Water Garden - Branford TJB-INC Landscape & Drainage Contractor is excited to introduce the Neilish Water Garden, a beautiful transformation right in Branford. This is a wonderful marriage of the beauty you find in nature and the benefit of design, producing a peaceful retreat that brings value to the property. The pinnacle of the water garden is the pond, which is meticulously built, and features a waterfall, which not only creates soothing sounds, but helps establish a healthy habitat for fish and aquatic plants. The edges of the pond are built out of locally-sourced, high quality #1 natural stone that is rustic yet elegant, all while remaining true to the surrounding flat landscape. We utilized a diverse planting palette made up of native species, including irises and water lilies, across the whole garden, which adds color and texture, and creates habitat for some of our local wildlife. It is important to us that we use sustainable materials whenever possible. All of the "hardscape" areas (the pathways) throughout the garden were built using permeable pavers to manage the drainage in the area with little impact on the environment. One of the very challenging aspects of this was the natural slope of the site which required a little creativity in drainage in order to avoid pooling, and erosion, on the property. Our team at TJB-INC developed a site-specific drainage plan which expertly moves any excess water from the garden, while continually assuring the longevity of the garden, and promoting the surrounding area. The finished product is a beautiful water garden that not only matched the client’s vision but exceeded it. The Neilish Water Garden exemplifies a quiet area for retreat and reflections in all ways, converting an already existing outdoor space into a destination garden.
