Description
Paclo Pro is a plant growth regulator intended for use as a foliage spray on ornamental plants growing in containers, in nurseries, greenhouses, shade houses, and interiorscapes. It includes paclobutrazol, a growth-regulating chemical that helps plants grow more uniformly and controllable. It is very helpful for the growers who must manage the size and style of plants in different periods of growth from the seedling to the end of flowering.
How to Use Paclo Pro
For optimal effectiveness, use Paclo Pro in one of three powerful applications: a spray, a drench, or a bulb soak. Both techniques are ideal for different kinds of plants and growth conditions.
- Spray Application: To use Paclo Pro as a spray, mix the product as directed and spray it onto the plant. Make sure the plant stems and leaves are totally drenched for the product to work.
- Drench Application: Paclo Pro is also a drench product that is applied directly into the growing media or soil. This strategy is useful as it manages plant growth from the root to the top, making it suitable for plants grown in pots.
- Bulb Soak: Bulbs to be planted should also be soaked in Paclo Pro solution as it will provide growth control after bulbs have sprouted. This works especially well to prevent tall, leggy growth on spring flowers and other bulb plants.
Precautions for Use
Although Paclo Pro is a useful and safe PGR when used properly, it is critical to follow the application recommendations closely to ensure no unwanted side effects.
Restricted Entry Interval (REI)
Once Paclo Pro has been used, allow a minimum of 12 hrs to pass before entering the area. This is so the product has time to work and minimize potential exposure.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
It is a good practice to wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying Paclo Pro such as coveralls, chemical-resistant gloves and shoes plus socks. This will keep the user away from the chemicals of any kind.
Compatibility with Plants
It was agreed that paclobutrazol on some plants can be a good growth retardant. Some tender plants, such as fibrous begonias and annual vinca, may be injured by the product. It is important to verify the compatibility of Paclo Pro with whatever plants are being treated.
