This long-time favorite is easy-to-grow and produces an abundance of dazzling blossoms on handsome, bushy plants from summer to fall. The fragrant flowers open in mid to late afternoon. Plant in beds, borders or use as low hedge or shrub foundations. This tender perennial is usually grown as an annual.
Select sunny location (tolerates light shade) and sow seed in late Spring when the soil has warmed, and all danger of frost is past. For earlier blossoms start indoors 6-8 weeks before setting out. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with flower food and smooth with rake. Firm soil over seed. Keep soil moist and feed monthly. Roots may be dug and stored over winter in cold climates.
