A major attractant and food source for the monarch butterfly. A herbaceous bush with willow like leaves and clusters of small star shaped flowers. The bright orange flowers bloom in June and July. Green foliage turns gold in the fall.
Select full sun or partial shade location and sow seed as soon as ground can be worked. Cultivate soil and enrich with vegetable food and organic matter. Firm soil over seed. Store seed in a cool, dry place. Heat and moisture can severely reduce germination.
