Select sunny location and plant in rich, well-drained soil. To maximize growth, plant seed in the bottom of 6 in./15 cm. trench. When plants are established, fill trench in gradually until ground is level. In mild climates plant Sept. through Nov. In severe climates plant in Spring as soon as soil can be worked. Soak seeds for 24 hours prior to planting. Cultivate soil, enriching with organic matter and fertilizer, and firm over seed, keeping it moist. Store seed in a cool, dry place. Heat and moisture can severely reduce germination.
