This popular winter vegetable is hardy and easy to grow. Named after Queen Victoria, this variety has stems that grow up to 36" in length and has a tart flavor.
Rhubarb is a perennial. Select sunny location, cultivate, and fertilize soil with vegetable food. Plant in early spring as soon as soil can be worked. Sow seed sparingly, firming soil over row. It is a heavy feeder, and you should work compost and manure into the soil for the best results as well as fertilizer. Water lightly and regularly. Protect from pests.
