About This Project

Wakefield DesignScapes of North Carolina, Ltd. proudly presents an excellent transformation at the Wakefield located in the heart of Wake Forest. This allows us to service the communities of Five Points, Knightdale, North Hills, Raleigh, Rolesville, and North Raleigh. Our team's task was to turn this vast backyard area into a beautiful outdoor living space which included a few unique challenges including grading and limited sunlight. After performing a thorough site assessment to understand the challenges, we were able to create a tailor-made landscape plan which consisted of the right combination of native plants, drought resistant perennials, and annuals. To modify the grade, we created planted retaining walls of natural stone into an innovative and functional tiered garden. In the end, we chose high quality materials including locally sourced bluestone and weather resistant hardwood. A highlight of the new outdoor living space is the custom built patio area well-suited for entertaining. Built with premium pavers, this area integrates both indoor and outdoor living spaces with built-in seating and a fire pit for added enjoyment. We enhanced the functionality of the landscape with the excitement of a new automatic irrigation system for every plant with minimal water use. We also were faced with the ongoing challenge of limiting sunlight in some regions of the garden. By painting shade tolerant plants where previously there were barren or sparse landscape spots, we were able to transform areas of the landscape into a lush green retreat. Overall, we now created a wonderful garden oasis filled with great beauty and functionality. The Wakefield is a testament to DesignScapes of North Carolina's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. And, the satisfied homeowner has a beautiful low maintenance landscape that reflects their vision of enhancing outdoor living!
