This comprehensive landscaping converted a simple yard into a beautiful outdoor oasis that achieved both function and beauty. The began with a site assessment of the property, which began the process of identifying the need for improved curb appeal and outdoor living area. The design had a combination of native plants, decorative stone paths, and a resilient pond waterfall to capture the space with plants that thrive in the Pacific Northwest. We chose natural stone pavers for the patio that would allow the home to last while appealing to warm-inviting time spent as a family. One of the significant challenges was dealing with an uneven grade of land, which we solved with creative grading solutions to create an even and stable base for the patio and surrounding garden beds. Our team understood how to manage drainage as well, using creative techniques to avoid pooling and standing water so plants could thrive. Together, it created a sophisticated tiered landscape that visually pulls the eye and operates within plan. The final touches included custom designed wood raised garden beds the client wanted to grow their own vegetables, and a beautiful pergola for shade that enhanced the character of the outdoor space. For added color, we curated a mix of colorful perennials and evergreen so the yard looked alive and beautiful all year round with little maintenance. The homeowners clearly enjoyed the transformation, and commented 'not only does it look great, but we can really use it!' Now, including more plants, the NE Portland Residence is a perfect marriage of nature and design, where careful planning radiates quality touch craftsmanship that will make it a lovely space for many years to come.
