Tesuque Hillside Terrace McCumber Fine Gardens completed the Tesuque Hillside Terrace as a remarkable demonstration of exceptional landscape design that is in unison with the natural amenities in and around the area. Set in the magnificent scenery of Tesuque, this is an example of our commitment to quality and craftsmanship on behalf of clients located throughout Cañada de los Alamos, Chupadero, Eldorado at Santa Fe, Glorieta, Lamy, Pojoaque, and Santa Fe. The initial challenge of the was to remediate a steep and rocky hillside into an engaging and functional terrace landscape. Our team undertook extensive site evaluations as we created a strategic plan to enrich the visual landscape and retain stability and sustainability. We used locally-sourced material for all of the stone retaining walls to create tiered levels that connect naturally with the contours of the hillside surface. To enrich the terrace experience, a diverse palette of native plants of regional significance were chosen that flourish in the local climate - including, but not limited to, colorful wildflowers drought-resistant shrubs. A high-quality mulch was used in conjunction with organic soil amendments to support hardy plant establishment and engage local capability. Our irrigation technician was able to employ the most effective forms of irrigation to systematically implement gathering systems that not only conserve water but ensure healthy botanical growth. The final result was a stunning outdoor space that engaged the client with gentle pathways, restful seating arrangements, and plentiful plant life that staged the natural beauty of the surrounding Tesuque hills. The clients were overjoyed with the change, stating they felt fortunate to have an exquisite retreat with the beauty of New Mexico’s natural setting in their outside space.
