Walkway and Patio with Retaining Wall Dreamscape Designers Landscape Company is thrilled to announce the completion of another impactful , "Walkway and Patio with Retaining Wall," for a very special client in the scenic coastal community of Virginia Beach, Virginia. This was born of the desire to provide an attractive, usable outdoor experience, which would be integrated into the natural landscape, while addressing specific drainage issues for the property. This began with the design of a strong retaining wall, using local natural stone that conveyed durability and appeal. The wall was engineered to address the erosion of the soil and create levels to handle rainwater while maximizing usable space in the backyard. We installed a beautiful walkway made of interlocking pavers that supplied a smooth path to guide guests through the garden. The warm earth toners in the pavers complemented the natural surroundings and the retaining wall very nicely. With dignity respectfully, seeing the homeowners fill the backyard with gardens and places to relax and socialize was such a neat sight. We faced one major issue and that was the considerable slope we were working on. It was challenging to grade and make level work function and be stable for the patio and wall. Planning and using our skill sets, the gave the feeling it was originally built with the house, in regard to stability and function. The patio area was spacious so the owners could utilize it well. It was built with composite decking and stone to allow for an area's versatility. This outdoor space was perfect for staging large enough gatherings with family and friends, and also a quieter place for a captivating evening. In conclusion, we created an impressive landscape that met the homeowner's expectation and increased the value of their property. They loved the way the retaining wall, outdoor walk and patio connected together to create an outdoor experience for relaxation and entertainment.
