About This Project

Daugherty Residence | Hittle Landscaping The Daugherty Residence located in Westfield, highlights Hittle Landscaping’s ability to merge aesthetics with functionality. We've completely redesigned the landscape to convert the backyard into a beautifully designed outdoor space that meets the clients' needs and marries them with the architecture. The began with a selection of items from a variety of native plants that are well-suited to the climate, ensuring a design that is both sustainable and low maintenance. We utilized annual perennials, along with ornamine grasses, to establish depth and character of color for each season. The stone path at the heart of the is especially aesthetically pleasing and made of locally sourced bluestone pavers. The path complements the lush vegetation while guiding family and guests through the garden into outdoor living spaces. Admittedly, one of the challenges we were faced with was the slope of the property. To prepare, Hittle Landscaping, designed and constructed a series of terrace garden beds using natural stone retaining walls. The terrace beds retain the soil well and add an extra layer of texture to the landscape. The terrace beds creat a maximized usable space while providing views from various locations. We also designed an area around the fire pit with comfortable seating including landscape accent lighting to the area. This casual space we created turned into an outdoor seating and entertainment area to be used by the family while winding down at the end of the day. The final product exceeded expectations in every way by turning into a backyard that turned out to be exactly was the clients desired - a place to host gatherings and enjoy quiet moments. Hittle Landscaping delivered quality workmanship and attention to detail for this backyard design and our clients appreciated that every element was carefully considered and designed to give them an enjoyable space whenever they looked outdoors.
