About This Project

Litchfield County Home This was executed by Renee Byers, Landscape Architect, P.C., and included a wonderful balance of nature and practicality designed for a specific client in the Greenwich area. This was a large-scale landscape renovation with a complete reconstruction of the front and backyard using a beautiful arrangement of native plantings, well-designed hardscaping, and sustainable practices. The front yard greets guests with a fabulous stone pathway constructed of locally quarried bluestone and a carefully curated planting of perennials that provides blooms through the various seasons. Also included in the front yard is a custom construction creek bed that addresses challenges associated with drainage while enhancing visual interest through the construction of a water feature in a dry creek bed. The backyard includes a multi-tiered terrace that ensured specific views of the surrounding landscape were maximized. There is an outdoor kitchen constructed of high-end granite and cedar that provides the perfect entertainment space for hosting family parties. Ornamental trees and shrubs provide the homeowners opportunities for privacy while providing a lush visual backdrop that evolves through the changing seasons. Sustainable practice elements such as drip irrigation and drought-resistant plants support a commitment to environmental stewardship. The also had challenges with uneven topography and poor soil quality that were addressed to deliver a thriving landscape that supports itself throughout the year. The final product is a striking landscape package that adds not just value to the property, but value to the homeowners with their existing outdoor environment and architecture. The Litchfield County Home reflects the focus on quality craftsmanship and creative design, and the client was extremely pleased with their new outdoor experience.
